SBGHC bringing back masking in clinical areas

The South Bruce Grey Health Centre (SBGHC) is the latest to update its masking guidelines.

As of October 4, patients and visitors are asked to wear a mask in all clinical areas and care settings when speaking with a healthcare professional, especially in the emergency department.

Patients with a fever or respiratory symptoms are required to wear a mask in all clinical and non-clinical settings, except if they are in an inpatient room or bed and not getting direct care. Masks will be available at all entrances to the building.

For staff and physicians, they are required to mask up for all direct patient contact in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Masks are recommended, but not required, in common spaces, like team stations, hallways, and break spaces.

SBGHC thanks the community for its ongoing support moving into the new requirements.

Many hospitals are following the same guideline updates amid respiratory season and an influx in COVID cases in Huron-Perth.
