In what has become a common occurence at rural hospitals in Ontario, another emergency department closure is being reported in the region.
The emergency department at the hospital in Chesley will be closed on Friday, with the closure lasting right through the weekend.
According to a statement from South Grey Bruce Health Centre, the closure is due to insufficient staffing. The statement says the emergency department will reopen at 7 a.m. Monday.
"Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 911 to be taken to the nearest Emergency Department," the statement read. "For non-urgent health care needs, Health Connect Ontario is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions by calling 811."
Ambulance by-pass has been undertaken to divert patients to the nearest open emergency department.
