United Way issues appeal for urgent funding need

United Way of Bruce Grey is issuing a public appeal regarding urgent funding needed to support key programs.

A release from the organization states that a significant challenge this year is the shortfall from the annual Backpack Program which is $40,000 for 2023, compared to $20,000 in 2022.

Since 2018, the request for backpacks has jumped significantly, and current fundraising dollars haven't kept up with that demand. Additionally, requests for food supports in 2023 highlights the need for more emergency food support.

UWBG says cuts to 2024 programming and support are possible if the deficit is not addressed with 2023 fundraised dollars.
