Dog owner sought after biting incident in Grey Highlands

Grey Bruce Public Health is seeking the owner of a dog that was involved in a biting incident in Grey Highlands last weekend.

According to the Health Unit, on January 6, around 12:15 p.m., a man who was running on the Bruce Trail in the Hogg’s Falls area was bitten by a dog.

The dog is described as grey-and-brown and appeared to be a mixed breed of German Shepherd. The dog was on a long, hands-free waist leash with two women and another dog at the time of the incident.

Public Health says staff need to confirm the dog is not infectious with the rabies virus, so the victim can avoid receiving the post-exposure rabies treatment.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call Grey Bruce Public Health at 519-376-9420 ext. 1518.
