Fundraiser being held for families affected by recent fire

A fundraiser for three families affected by a recent fire on Krotz Street in Listowel is hoping to raise some needed hope.

Deborah Ritchie, who is spearheading the fundraiser, says immediately there were people banding together to try and ensure all three families would get help.

"Between the Legion and St. Paul's Lutheran Church, we were both gonna do some fundraising, and then we both put our efforts together to have one big one. We've got entertainment, social hour, some fantastic auction items for silent and live auctions. We've had some special donations for those. One being from Corey Conners, which is awesome. Also, we have memorabilia donated from Jared Keeso of Letterkenny fame," Ritchie shared excitedly.

The fundraiser is from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, February 4 at the Parkview Gardens in Listowel. There are loads of auction items, including Leafs tickets and much more.

Ritchie says having people like Conners and Keeso willing to help out is very special and shows how much they appreciate their hometown.

"Hometown heroes, always remember their roots and where they came from, and are very gracious in donating and supporting the community in times like this. It's very special," said Ritchie.

Ritchie adds if anyone wants to donate, be that financially or with items for the auctions, or get involved to help out, she's easy to track down.

"They can either reach out to be at 519-500-2122, or they can go to the event page on Facebook, but the easiest way would be to contact me directly. Everyone's welcome, come out and have a great time, bid on the auction items, if you wanna make a financial donation to the families, you can do that, as well. We've got a 50/50 draw going, as well, so lots of great things happening all for a great cause," Ritchie concluded.
