The St. Marys Memorial Hospital was forced to close its emergency department with little notice Tuesday night, due to sudden staffing challenges.
The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance says the closure began at 5:30 p.m.
The department will reopen at 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1. Paramedics will remain available to the community and will re-route to the nearest available ED.
The closest 24-hour hospitals at St. Marys are Stratford, Exeter, Ingersoll and London. (It's advised to check with these EDs before attending to ensure they are operating with regular hours.)
