The Realtors Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound says there was a small gain in the number of home sales in the first month of 2024.
In January, 118 homes change hands, which is four more than the same month a year ago. That represents an increase of 3.5 per cent. Home sales were 13.8 per cent below the 10-year average for the month of January.
The MLS Home Price Index composite benchmark price was up by 5.4 per cent compared to January 2023, rising to $550,700 in January 2024.The dollar value of all home sales in January 2024 was $79.1 million, an increase of 23.7 per cent from the same month in 2023.
January 2024 had the largest number of new listings added in that month in more than five years. The number of new listings saw a moderate gain of 5.2 per cent compared to January of 2023. There were 264 new residential listings in January 2024.
New listings were 18.4 per cent above the five-year average and 15.3 per cent above the 10-year average for the month of January.
