County installs alternate truck routes during bridge reconstruction

Bruce County has announced two alternate truck routes during a major bridge reconstruction.

Starting February 16, Bruce County’s Transportation and Environmental Services department will be implementing two Alternate Truck Routes related to the Durham Street Bridge in Walkerton.

These alternate routes will facilitate the continued movement of truck traffic during a bridge weight restriction period on the Durham Street Bridge until rehabilitation and repairs are made to the bridge.

The weight restriction would be a 3-level load limit which differentiates various heavy truck types by the number of axles on the truck or trailers and permits a maximum vehicle weight. The recommended weight restrictions would apply to vehicles greater than 15, 25, and 30 tonnes, with corresponding axles.

Additional Project Information can be found on the Bruce County Website at www.brucecounty.on.ca/WalkertonBridge.
