Owen Sound police arrest man for a pair of drugstore robberies

Owen Sound police say a Thunder Bay man is facing multiple charges in connection to two pharmacy robberies this week.

The first incident took place around 5:30 p.m. on St. Patrick's Day Sunday. The suspect entered a pharmacy, covered his face, and threatened employees with a knife. He ran from the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police were called, and they searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

The second incident was reported on Friday morning. At around 9 a.m., police responded to a call about a robbery in progress at a second drugstore. This time, the man ran with money and some fentanyl patches. He was apprehended a short distance away.

The man has been charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of disguise with intent to commit an offence, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, three counts of assault with a weapon, uttering threats, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

The charges have not been proven in court. The man remains in custody pending a court appearance on Monday.
