Owen Sound and Grey Highlands residents able to apply for wedding license online

A ServiceOntario pilot project has expanded to Owen Sound and Grey Highlands, allowing you to get your marriage license easier.

The provincial government announced applications can now be submitted online through a secure portal. All identification and documentation can be sent in virtually, then a marriage license can be picked up in person.

"This latest expansion of our Online Marriage License application will make it easier and more convenient for Ontario couples to get married than ever before," said Todd McCarthy, Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery. "This is just one of the many examples of our government's commitment to build simpler, faster, and better services that save Ontarians precious time and effort."

A release sent by Bruce-Grey MPP Rick Byers' office says municipalities are responsible for issuing provincial marriage license. With the new program, it can check to see if the application is correct. It says the process reduces errors, is efficient, and reduces paper.

"Improving the customer experience is important to the Ontario government," said Byers. "I'm pleased that Grey Highlands and Owen Sound were chosen to participate in the pilot."
