Province invests almost $2.7M in road repair

Ontario will provide $2,691,000 to help Saugeen Shores resurface Goderich Street (Highway 21) from Concession Road 6 to Concession Road 10.

"Safe, reliable roads and bridges are vital links that connect people and make it easier for them to get where they need to go, whether that be their job, school, stores, appointments or to family and friends," said Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce.

"Our government recognizes the importance of maintaining busy roads like the main street in Port Elgin," Thompson added. "When completed, this investment will surely be appreciated by local businesses, residents, and visitors alike."

The funding is being delivered through the Connecting Links program. The province describes a connecting link as a designated municipal road or bridge that connects two ends of a provincial highway through a community.

This year, the Ontario government is investing $30 million into 21 projects in 19 municipalities across the province.

"Thanks to this significant investment from the Connecting Links Program, we can ensure a vital lifeline for our community remains reliably and safely connected to the people and businesses we know and love," Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau said.
