The Municipality of Huron East has confirmed on Facebook that it will tear down the Winthrop Park community pavilion.
It has been taped off and inaccessible since July 14, 2023, due to it being unsafe.
"The pavilion condition has unfortunately deteriorated beyond repair," it said on the post. Our top priority has always been the safety and well-being of our community members, and recent inspections have revealed structural issues that pose significant risks."
The municipality reiterates that the decision was not made lightly.
Many residents and community members sounded off in the comment section, expressing their disappointment over the news and in the municipality for allowing the state of the structure to worsen beyond repair.
