Ontario Health Coalition seeks input on local hospitals

The Ontario Health Coalition (OHC) is holding public hearings across the province to address over 1,200 hospital service closures.

These hearings will help develop recommendations for the future of local hospitals, including those in small, rural, and northern communities, and gather input from patients, community residents, advocacy groups, healthcare professionals, and municipal leaders. The findings will be compiled into a report to recommend ways to protect and improve local hospitals.

“These hearings are a chance for people in rural Ontario to share their experiences and safeguard our local hospitals, especially those at risk of closures,” said Brenda Scott, chair of the OHC's small, rural & local hospital committee.

Key upcoming hearings in Midwestern Ontario:

-St. Marys: Saturday, June 8, 3-4:30 p.m. at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 236, St. Marys.

-Chesley: Tuesday, June 18, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Chesley Community Centre.
