A provincial pilot program has brought online applications for marriage licences to Owen Sound.
This ServiceOntario pilot allows couples to apply for a licence online through a secure portal before picking the licence up in person. ID and supporting documentation can also be submitted through the secure portal.
The City of Owen Sound says the online process is efficient, minimizes the risk of errors, saves time and reduces paper for the municipality and the applicant.
The online marriage application is being phased in by ServiceOntario, and is expected to be province-wide by early 2025.
