Charges have been laid after a man armed with what turned out to be an imitation air-soft pistol barricaded himself inside a home in St. Marys.
Stratford police were initially called around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday about a woman allegedly being threatened by her ex-spouse, a 35-year-old man. Roughly an hour later, police were told the man had shown up at the woman's residence on Wellington Street armed with a gun.
By the time officers arrived, the man had barricaded himself inside the home. During negotiations with police, he eventually tossed an imitation air-soft pistol out of the house, police said.
Officers with the police emergency response unit entered the home and arrested a man without incident around 10:30 p.m. An arrest warrant was obtained by police prior to their going inside the home, police said.
A 35-year-old St. Marys man is charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and one count each of uttering threats to burn property and failure to comply with probation.
