Household hazardous waste being collected in Sauble Beach Saturday

Got household hazardous waste you want to get rid of? You can ditch it in Sauble Beach this weekend.

Bruce County is holding another Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event at the Amabel Works Yard at 413 Municipal Road. The event aimed to help residents remove hazardous waste from homes and garages and dispose of it in an environmentally safe manner will run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday.

Among the items that are classified as household hazardous waste that will be accepted includes paints and stains, propane tanks, used oil, aerosols, batteries, antifreeze, oil filters, solvents, household cleaners, fluorescent lights, fertilizers, fuel, pharmaceuticals, fire extinguishers, pesticides, and pool chemicals. The full list of acceptable waste can be found online at www.brucecounty.on.ca/hazardouswaste.

County officials remind those planning on dropping items off at Saturday's event that they have to be placed in a disposable container with a volume of 30 litres or less. Containers will not be emptied and returned, the county has stressed.

This is one of 13 Household Hazardous Waste Collection events being held in Bruce County this year. Similar collections will be held in Southampton and Walkerton next month.
