History comes alive at Huron County Museum

Colourful characters who helped shape Huron County's history will come alive at The Huron County Museum & Historic Gaol.

The Live History Theater Company is offering an escape room experience based on exhibits at the site.

Spokesperson Jasmine Bowen said audience members can book a time slot to join the fun.

"So this is an immersive experience where audience members book at time slot, and they have one hour from the time they enter to interact with all the characters who are exhibits come to life from the Museum's History and solve missions, clues, puzzles and get back to the beginning before time runs out," explained Bowen. "So the types of missions can involve speaking with the characters, and they send you on private quests. We have mathematics missions, ciphers, physical puzzles, word games and everything is built off the museum's exhibits, so you will be using the actual things on site to solve these puzzles."

Bowen added participants will meet characters from the past, such as poets, inventors, or military members.

"Stories that are in danger of being forgotten, so not necessarily the main stories that you would hear all the time, but the stories that are kind of just behind them or just beside them, that are not necessarily talked about," she revealed.

The event takes place on September 28, 2024, at the museum located at 110 North Street in Goderich.
