In just a week's time, deer hunters will be out in forested areas as rifle hunting for the animal begins.
With the start of the season comes a reminder to hunters and trail users across Bruce County to put safety first to ensure there are no catastrophic accidents.
"Everyone using county forests must ensure they are visible and must be aware that others may be nearby," county officials said in a statement.
They advise hikers to avoid using the trails when visibility is limited, particularly at dawn and dusk. Recreational users of the trails are also being told to wear high visibility clothing and to keep all pets leashed.
Hunters should avoid shooting along the trails and in areas with active trail use. They should also be aware that other hunters and those just looking for physical activity will be in the area and should never fire a gun unless absolutely sure of the target and what is beyond it.
"Be familiar with hunting regulations and bylaws for hunting in county forests as some forests prohibit hunting," county officials added.

Deer hunting season for long gun users in Ontario is open from November 4 until November 10.
