Kincardine putting parking limits in place next year

Kincardine council approved implementing a three-hour parking limit downtown, beginning next year.

The parking limits will be in place along Queen Street, from Durham Market Square South to Durham Street.

Nearly $12,000 will be earmarked for this year's budget for the new parking signs, communications and legal fees needed to implement the amended by-law.

Municipal by-law will enforce the measures by conducting random checks and blitzes, instead of responding to complaints. The set fine for violating the time limit is $50, but can be lowered to $35 if paid within a week.

Staff said an extra by-law officer could be contracted to do regular patrols if needed, at a cost of $16,000, but did not recommend the measure at this time.

The new limits won't come into effect until April 1, 2025.
