Trio face charges for allegedly bringing gun into Wiarton business

Three men are facing charges after allegedly bringing a rifle into a Wiarton business.

Grey Bruce OPP responded to a complaint along Berford Street in South Bruce Peninsula on Monday around 11:30 a.m.

Police said it was reported that three intoxicated individuals entered a business, and it was believed one individual might have a rifle sticking out of their bag.

Officers responded and located the individuals a short distance away.

After investigation, a 39-year-old of South Bruce Peninsula, 54-year-old of Meaford and a 34-year-old of Haldimand County are all facing a litany of charges including: careless use of firearm, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of counterfeit money.

The accused were held pending a bail hearing.
