The Wingham & District Hospital Foundation had a big day on Giving Tuesday this year.
The hospital foundation partnered up with Lynn Hoy Enterprises on the annual Giving Tuesday Big Match, held on December 3 this year. Giving Tuesday is a Canada-wide movement to kick off the giving season by supporting local causes.
Lynn Hoy Enterprises offered a $10,000 matching gift to double donations made to the hospital.
According to the hospital foundation, the community stepped up in a big way, ultimately raising $43,165 for an ultrasound machine.
A release from the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation says that "having high quality images for these safe, non-invasive diagnostic tests is critical for skilled local health professionals to make the best possible decisions for their patients."
Lynn Hoy Enterprises picked up the Giving Tuesday Big Match baton from Leslie Motors Ford who hosted in 2023.
“We’ve had reason to be grateful for hospitals and healthcare in our family. Giving back to our community has always been an important part of how we run our business and the matching gift was a great way to do a little bit more for our hospital. We can’t believe it went so well!" shared Debbie Murray of Lynn Hoy Enterprises.
“We are grateful to everyone who took the time to support our hospital on Giving Tuesday. The Big Match is quickly becoming an important tradition and goes a long way towards keeping our hospital well equipped. We can’t thank the team at Lynn Hoy’s enough for making it possible this year," added Wingham & District Hospital Foundation Executive Director, Nicole Duquette-Jutzi.
