Tow truck driver injured in hit and run

Provincal police in Huron County expect that charges will soon be laid after a tow truck driver was injured in a hit and run.

According to the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police, emergency crews were called just before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6 about a collision involving a pedestrian on Airport Line between Huron Street and Thames Road East near Exeter.

"Emergency responders located one person who had been struck by a truck that fled from the scene," police said. "The injured tow operator was transported by Huron EMS to a local hospital where their injuries were deemed non-life threatening."

Investigators determined that the tow truck driver had removed the suspect's vehicle after it had gottten stuck in the snow. While the tow truck driver awaited payment, the suspect sped off and hit the driver, sending them flying into a ditch.

"The OPP has identified the involved vehicle and driver that fled the scene," police added. "Several criminal charges are anticipated."
