Legion donates to new pool

A local legion has donated towards the new pool in Mount Forest.

The Fred Campbell VC Royal Canadian Legion Branch 134 has pledged $2,500 over the next five years to support the new Mount Forest Outdoor Pool.

The first instalment of this pledge was presented on Monday, December 16 by Branch 134 President George Garrard to Ray Tout, Fundraising Chair for the Mount Forest Aquatics Ad-Hoc Advisory Committee.

The new outdoor pool in Mount Forest will be built on Princess Street beside the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.

The $5.3 million dollar project has a local fundraising goal of $2.5 million, and Wellington North says in a release that once 80 percent of that goal is raised, next steps in the construction of the new outdoor pool will begin.

"The generosity of the Fred Campbell VC Legion Branch 134 is greatly appreciated. Their pledge brings us closer to our fundraising goals and the completion of this much-anticipated project. We are deeply grateful for their commitment, not only to this initiative but also to the future of our community,” said Tout. “Their investment is a testament to their dedication to enhancing the quality of life in Mount Forest. This new outdoor pool will provide a wonderful space for recreation, fitness, and community gatherings for years to come. Thank you, Legion Branch 134, for believing in our vision and helping to make it a reality."
