No one injured in Port Elgin apartment fire

Bruce County officials have confirmed no one was injured in a fire at an apartment building operated by Bruce County Housing Corporation.

On January 12 at 5:30 a.m., a fire was reported at 659 Arlington Street in Port Elgin.

Saugeen Shores firefighters arrived on scene alongside other emergency services personnel and found an active fire in a second floor unit. Crews were on scene until 7:15 a.m., and firefighters were able to contain the fire to the single unit.

The building had been completely evacuated, and residents were all able to return to their units following the departure of emergency crews. No one was injured.

Victim Services is assisting tenants impacted by the fire.
