The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library is gearing up for a season of stories, games, and hands-on activities with the return of the TD Summer Reading Club and an exciting lineup of free programs for children and families.
The fun kicks off on Saturday, June 21, with a launch party running from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Youth are invited to set their summer reading goals, play games, contribute to a community mural, and cool off with refreshing treats. Registration for the TD Summer Reading Club will remain open throughout the summer.
A variety of weekly programs are planned to keep young minds engaged, including Wacky Wednesdays from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., featuring everything from travel adventures with the Marine and Rail Museum to international games.
For creative kids in Grades 4 to 8, the Library is launching Textile Tuesdays, where participants can dive into fibre arts and pick up new skills on July 15, July 29, and August 12.
A sweet new addition this year is the Scoops for Stories Reading Challenge. Young readers who report their reading progress during Ice Cream Weeks — July 14–19 and August 11–16, will earn a coupon for a free scoop from Sundays Ice Cream Parlour.
The youngest library-goers won’t be left out, with Story Tent programs held in Queen’s Park on Tuesdays from July 8 to August 12, and Baby-time sessions every Thursday from July 3 to August 14 at 10:30 a.m.
Families are also invited to a Nature Friends presentation by Speaking of Wildlife, where they’ll meet native Ontario animals and learn about their habitats.
The summer schedule is packed with even more, including a LEGO Club, Tech it Out Thursdays, and 3D Printing 101. Some programs have limited space, so advance registration is recommended.
