Grey Bruce Public Health (GBPH) has deemed the Northwinds Beach near Craigleith unsafe for swimming.
A media advisory on July 11 shares that GBPH conducted water-sampling earlier this week at the beach and the results showed bacterial levels exceeding Ontario Ministry of Health standards.
The beach posting will remain in effect until further samples show levels have returned to within the acceptable range for swimming/bathing.
Samples were taken Friday morning, with results expected early next week.
For now, residents and visitors to the area should refrain from swimming in the water at Northwinds Beach, and pets should be kept away, as well. Water with bacterial levels above provincial standards for bathing can increase the risk of skin, eye, ear, nose, and throat infections or gastrointestinal illness.
