Six local beaches under no-swim advisory

Many local beaches are still under a no-swim advisory.

According to the inspection team of Huron Perth Public Health, as of Wednesday, August 20, the following beaches remain under a precautionary no-swim advisory:

-Ashfield Township Park

-Port Albert

-Goderich - Rotary Cove

-St. Joseph Beach

-Hay Township Park

-Port Blake

The beaches are under a no-swim advisory following recent water testing that showed bacteria levels were above Ontario health standards.

The Health unit says if you swim, you could be exposed to bacteria that may cause diarrhea or infections of your ears, nose, throat, eyes, and skin. It is recommended to keep pets and small children away from the water during this advisory period.
