One charged following theft of telecommunications wires

A Mount Forest resident is facing charges following the theft of telecommunication wires.

According to Wellington County OPP, on September 18 at 7 p.m., officers responded to a report of telecommunication wires being cut at a local business on Egremont Street in Mount Forest.

The wires had allegedly been positioned to be stolen overnight.

The Wellington Community Street Crimes Unit responded and a suspect was located and arrested within the early morning hours of September 19.

A 44-year-old from Mount Forest is facing a charge of theft under $5,000.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
