Another new family physician will be setting up shop in Listowel.
The Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance (LWHA) announced on Monday that Dr. Leili Adineh will be joining the Listowel Family Health Organization. She will not be accepting new patients at this time, but will be taking over care of patients whose family doctors recently retired. Those patients who will be moved to Dr. Adineh will be contacted directly.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Adineh to our organization and community,” said LWHA President and CEO Esther Millar. “Her clinical experience, global perspective, and dedication to rural practice will greatly strengthen care for patients in our region.”
Dr. Adineh is the third physician to be recruited to the hospital alliance through Ontario’s practice ready program, an initiative that supports internationally trained physicians in transitioning to full practice in the province. She was educated in Iran and completed her medical degree, internship, and an anesthesiology residency before practicing as both a family physician and anesthesiologist in rural communities.
“The Family Health Team joins the hospital in enthusiastically welcoming Dr. Adineh and expanding access to high-quality, team-based primary care in our area,” said Robin Spence Haffner, the executive director of the Listowel-Wingham and Area Family Health Team. “We are grateful for each physician who has joined our community through this pathway and look forward to supporting Dr. Adineh as she begins her practice.”
