Police thank two strangers that helped in arrest

The Grey Bruce OPP extended thanks to this week to two good Samaritans that assisted in an arrest in on Wednesday.

Police said during the snowstorm, one of their officers encountered a wanted individual walking on Hwy 21 in Saugeen First Nation.

The officer attempted to arrest the person, but a struggle ensued, which is when Constable Kody Lyons said the strangers stepped up.

"Two members of the public stopped to assist the officer, and with their help, the individual was safely taken into custody," said Cst. Lyons in a video posted to social media. "The citizens left before the officer could thank them. On behalf of the officer involved and the Grey Bruce OPP, I just want to extend our sincere appreciation to these two individuals."

Lyons added that the two’s willingness to help during a dangerous moment made a real difference.

The outstanding charges against the individual were not shared.
