A 16-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a break-and-enter at a Hanover cannabis shop this past fall.
Officers responded to a call on 10th Street shortly before 3:30 a.m. on September 20, 2025. Three males wearing masks had forced their way in and stolen cannabis products worth about $10,000. The trio then fled in a Chevrolet Malibu with the licence plate covered with duct tape.
Investigators reviewed video footage from the CamSafe.ca database and worked with Peel Regional Police, and on January 27, an arrest was made.
The teen has been charged with break-and-enter, theft, mischief under $5,000, wearing a disguise to commit an offence, and possession of break-in materials.
He was later released on conditions from a Walkerton court.
Police Chief Christopher Knoll credited the camera database with their ability to make an arrest in the case.
"We continue to realize the investigative benefits of quick access to video footage from property owners, businesses, and residents that have registered their cameras on CamSafe.ca, and thank those registrants who have directly contributed to the success of this investigation," said Knoll.
