Minto unveils new festival Kites in Clifford

The Town of Minto is inviting residents to come watch a popular Lucknow kite flying event take place in Clifford.

On May 30 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., the Kites in Clifford festival will be held in Clifford Rotary Park.

There will be many large kites, with some up to 140 square feet in size, for everyone to come out and enjoy.

Organizers of the popular Kites in the Field event in Lucknow connected with Clifford Connects in 2025 and the idea to bring the popular event to Clifford was born.

Clifford Connects and the Minto and District Lions Club are partnering up for the first time to make the event happen. The new event will also feature artisan vendors and food trucks, and visitors are encouraged to bring their own kite to fly, as well.

"Clifford is a charming village and a lovely community in the Town of Minto. Every year, the staff at the municipality and volunteers alike strive to enhance Clifford, whether that is through beautification projects, events, business recruitment, or other downtown revitalization efforts," said Minto's Marketing and Community Development Coordinator, Erin Raftis. "Last year, our committee worked hard to throw the biggest Clifford Carnival Celebration to date, complete with shutting down Elora Street through the downtown for the party."
