The Wingham and District Hospital Foundation's Future Care Collective has raised over $34,000 for a new ultrasound.
The Future Care Collective held its first ever Showdown Reception recently, where hospital representatives stepped up to present important equipment needs at the hospital.
Three project pitches were presented to the group. Dr. Sean Henderson spoke about the need for new defibrillators to support critical emergency care.
Jaide Campbell, Diagnostic Imaging Manager, alongside Medical Radiation Technologist Heather Logan, presented the case for a new ultrasound machine to enhance diagnostic imaging services.
Orthopedic tools were pitched by Manager of Surgical Services Tori Ducharme and Director if Operations Michelle Wick, highlighting their importance in establishing a new surgical service.
Future Care Collective members then voted to see which project would get the $34,200 raised through the annual contributions of the club’s 52 current members, and the ultrasound was chosen.
The Future Care Collective is a social giving club designed for like minded community members to have an impact on the future of local healthcare while also enjoying unique social experiences.
"The Showdown Reception is a unique opportunity for our members to directly connect with the hospital team and learn about the real equipment needs behind patient care," said Executive Director Nicole Duquette-Jutzi. "Having our members hear the pitches and then vote on where the funding goes makes their support incredibly meaningful."
