Impaired and dangerous driving charges were laid after a crash caused a gas leak just west of Hanover.
Emergency crews were called to the single-vehicle collision on Bruce Road 4 between Bruce Road 22 and Maple Hill Road before 2 a.m. on Tuesday. The vehicle involved reportedly snapped a hydro pole and caused a natural gas leak in the area.
The road had to be closed while crews worked to remove the debris and make repairs. The closure forced drivers to detour throughout the morning commute.
South Bruce OPP said a 23-year-old Hanover resident was arrested. They are charged with impaired driving with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood and dangerous driving.
