Wingham memorial walk to honour Joey Havers, support local health care

A memorial walk is being organized in Wingham to honour a local man while raising money for health care in the community.

The "Steps That Give Back" Memorial Walk for Joey Havers will take place Saturday, June 13, starting at 10 a.m. from the community walking bridge on Josephine Street. Participants are invited to walk, jog or bike the 15-kilometre route from Wingham to Teeswater, or show support along the way.

The event is being organized by Mary Havers in memory of her brother, Joey, who passed away suddenly at the age of 39. Organizers say the walk is meant to celebrate his life and the impact he had on those around him.

Funds raised will go to the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation, supporting local health care services.

Community members are encouraged to take part in any way they can, whether by joining the walk, cheering along the route, or making a donation. Organizers say the goal is to create a lasting legacy in Havers’ name while giving back to the community he called home.
