Bruce Power supplier partners deliver $243K boost to Nawash community projects

Bruce Power’s supplier partners have donated $243,750 to support local ballpark upgrades and housing initiatives in Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation.

The funding is being provided through the Saugeen Ojibway Nation Community Development Fund and will be split into two equal contributions of $121,875 dedicated to the two community projects. Bruce Power established the fund in 2025 as a way for its supplier partners to invest in opportunities that foster growth and prosperity across both the Saugeen and Nawash communities, with each community directing its allocated funds to self-selected priority projects.

James Scongack, Bruce Power’s Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President, noted that the contributions highlight how supplier partners are stepping up to support local communities, demonstrating the positive impacts achieved through collaboration.

Since the establishment of the fund, supplier partners have directed nearly $1.3 million toward a range of Nawash community initiatives, funding improvements and programs for the local arena, food bank, health and wellness services, housing, and the ballpark.

Councillor Greg Nadjiwon expressed appreciation for the ongoing backing.

“The continued support of Bruce Power and its supplier partners through the Community Development Fund makes a meaningful contribution to our community.” Nadjiwon added, “This year’s final instalment will support our ball diamond revitalization and housing initiatives, helping to largely advance these priority community projects.”
