Hanover Dam safety fencing project underway

The Town of Hanover, in partnership with the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority (SVCA), is installing new public safety fencing around the Hanover Dam this week. The initiative aims to enhance public safety around the dam area with updated fencing and clearer directional signage.

The project involves the placement of temporary chain-link fencing to secure the perimeter. Permanent decorative metal fencing will replace the initial setup later in November once manufacturing is complete.

Visitors using the local trails and surrounding park grounds may notice active construction equipment and minor, temporary access disruptions while work is carried out. Park users are urged to exercise caution, keep a safe distance from work areas, and follow all posted signs and safety directions on site.

Municipal officials and the SVCA extend their thanks to the community for their patience and cooperation as these safety upgrades are finalized.
