Three players going back to midget, two wins and one trade in the past few days for the Wingham Ironmen.
Earlier this weekend the team sent Jordy Schneider to the Tavistock Braves of the Midwestern Junior League in a trade for Josh Higgins. He is a 17 year-old forward with 10 points so far this season.
That move was followed up with youngsters Adam Armstrong and Connor Weishar back to midget, they will stay on as AP's.
The first set of moves set the stage for a 2-1 win over Kincardine on Saturday. The new pickup Higgins would be held off the scoresheet.
For Sunday, a matinee with the Hanover Barons was on the schedule. Wingham would get a 4-2 result on the road. Alex Kuntz led the way with a pair of goals. Ryan Mcneil tallied three assists while Holdyn Lansink set up a pair.
Following the game, more moves were announced by the Ironmen. Goaltender Mike Ratchford will be returning to Midget. He leaves with a 2-3 record and with a .891 save percentage and a 2.90 goals against average.
Wingham didn't waste time naming a new goalie partner for Ben Nelson. Jake Trentadue of Waterloo will be joining the team and making the jump to junior. He played his AAA hockey for the Waterloo Wolves organization.
After a busy weekend on and off the ice, the Ironmen will show off their new additions in town for the first time Friday when they host Walkerton.
