Great weather and a good crowd opened Hanover Raceway’s 51st season of pari-mutuel wagering on Saturday night.
Hanover fans enjoyed a new sound system in the grandstand and new LED Lighting as well as a number of new promotions.
Teresa Marshall of Hanover was the first winner of the Best Seats in the House sponsored by 92.3 The Dock and Leons of Owen Sound and Collingwood, and Teresa Seifert of Hanover was the first winner of the Lucky 7’s race when My Friend Diaz won the 7th race in a time of 1:56.1.
On the track, Bruce Richardson who was the tracks top driver last year started off the season with a hat-trick winning race 2 with Oh Hannah in 2:03.1 for owner Linda Denis of Oro-Medonte. Richardson was back in the winner’s circle in Race 4 with Adventure Luck for owner Bruce Winning of Madoc, Ontario in 1:58.3 and won Race 5 with Tymal Flare in 2:01.3 for owner Glenview Livestock of Guelph. J B Renaud got the ball rolling winning the opening race of the 2015 season with Sixth Man for owner and trainer Julie Walker of Owen Sound in 1:57.3.
Terry Fritz of Walkerton also had a good night with a win in Race 3 with Preppy Art in 1:57.1, and won the nightcap with Campus Cutie Pie for owner Dennis Jewett of Wingham in 1:59.
