Manchester Wins Calder Cup

Huron County's Cal O'Reilly and the Utica Comets went down in 5 games to Manchester at the AHL's Calder Cup. The Monarchs won the deciding game 2-1 in overtime Saturday night.

Four of the five games in the series were decided by a single goal. The final game was another close battle with the teams trading goals back and forth until extra time was needed. Michael Mersch had the winning goal, just four miniutes into OT.

A native of Varna, O'Reilly notched one assist in a game where his team was not able to produce much offensively. The Comets had only 17 shots in the game. Over the course of the playoffs Utica's captain totaled 19 points in 23 playoff games, scoring 2 goals in the process.

Former Listowel  Cyclone Ryan Horvat was on the winning side. He played in 9 of the Monarchs' playoff games, scoring one goal.
