Local Players Called To National Women's Development Team

Exeter's Cayley Mercer and Shea Tiley of Shallow Lake will be putting their skills to the test for Hockey Canada.

The local duo who both play for Clarkson University in the NCAA have been selected to take part in the National Women's Development camp for a summer showcase that will take place in August.

Mercer is a forward, and will play for Team Blue. She led Clarkson in scoring with 24 goals and 43 points this season and was  named a first team All-Star.

A goaltender, Tiley led the league in goals against average, save percentage, and wins to lead Clarkson to their second straight conference regular season title. She was named ECAC Goaltender of the Year and Rookie of the Year as well as a first team All-Star. At the camp she will be against Mercer on team Gold.

Starting on August 11 the two teams will play the first of  a 3 game series in Calgary, Alberta. Following the camp a  23 player squad will play a series with the United Stated in Lake Placid, N.Y from Aug. 19-22.
