The Durham Jr. Dodgers OASA mite team was able to work its way to a perfect record at the western elimination tournament in Springfield, east of London.
The team is made up of players from several Midwestern Ontario communities, Durham, Chatsworth, Shallow Lake, Mount Forest and Wingham
The team started out of the gate hot, beating Kitchener 26-1 on Saturday and followed that up with an 11-4 win over New Hamburg. On Sunday morning, Durham faced the host team, Springfield. After falling behind 3-0 early, the Jr. Dodgers chipped away and were able to go ahead in the late innings and held on for a 7-4 win. The last game of the tournament pitted Durham versus Plattsville. Durham scored three early and was able to hold on for a 3-2 win to sweep the tournament.
The Durham Jr. Dodgers will now prepare for the OASA Tournament August 14 to 16 in Ponsonby, north of Guelph.
