New Inductees On Wingham Sports Wall Of Fame

The Wingham Sports Wall of Fame welcomed three new members on Saturday night during a ceremony at North Huron Wescast Community Complex.

Kyle and Jocelyn Dore of Wingham were inducted as athletes. Both competed in numerous visually impaired track and field events throughout their careers, doing a tremendous job representing Wingham in the process. The brother-sister duo both were “incredibly humbled,” and also stated the induction was “a tremendous honour.”

Also inducted in the Builders category was Patti Robertson. Robertson started Wingham’s first and, to this day, only baton twirling corps known as the Wingham Canadettes. During her illustrious career, Robertson competed throughout Canada and the U.S., and is the only instructor in the area to hold her NBTA intermediate and advanced teacher’s certification.

The ceremony was capped off with a presentation of a commemorative plaque honouring 30 years of International Silver Stick hockey in Wingham.

Grant Currie, a founding member of the Wingham tournament, was on hand to receive the award. This year marks the 50th year of a Midget level tournament in Wingham, and the 30th of an Atom level competition, as well.
