Huron FC Ready To Grow

Some good things are happening with a Huron County soccer club.

The Huron FC started out in 2014 and now there is an opportunity to become more competitive.

Manager Annie Sparling says Huron FC is trying to take advantage of an opportunity.

"We are in the process of joining our members with the LAC, London Athletic Canadian Football Club," says Sparling. "And they provide high level training, academy style training, to our players. And how that can benefit them by, they're able to train in their local community."

But the club needs to declare teams by February 6.

"We're looking at wanting to see every soccer player that's interested in playing competitive across Huron County so they know there's a competitive option in their community."

Players interested can go to Central Huron Secondary in Clinton on Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 p.m. for more information.

"Right now we have a strong 2003 team and 2004. And we're looking for a couple extra players for those teams to play in London. And we're also doing a 2006 team and perhaps a combined 2001, 2002."

Huron FC players have also celebrated some accolades. Three players have been selected for the 2003 London Regional team that will compete at the Ontario Footsall Cup in Oshawa. Neil Martin of Ethel, Connor Pullen of Goderich and Dawson Hoggart of Blyth are the three players.

The club also has a Facebook page, Huron.F.C.Soccer@facebook.com.
