D Versus D in Bulldogs-Hornets Series

The Kincardine Bulldogs are gearing up for Game 1 of the Schmalz Cup Quarter-Finals against Alliston.

The focus for both teams will be their defence.

The Bulldogs top four of Matthew Mah, Eric Langridge, Robert White and Shawn Rooke not only defend their own end but it also gives the team's offense other avenues in the transition game and when in the offensive zone. The team is also anchored in net by Jacob Hutchings who led the Western Jr. C League in goals against during the season at 2.56.

For the Hornets, defence is also key along with special teams.

The Alliston Hornets finished first in the Georgian Bay Mid Ontario League with 73 points, 29 better than second place Huntsville.

Goaltenders Mike Masucci and Tyler Brindle had save percentages of .953 and .927 respectively. And the Hornets outscored their opponents 206 to 60 in the regular season. Alliston allowed just 11 power play goals all season in 206 times short handed.

Game 1 of the Schmalz Cup QuarterFinal between Alliston and the Bulldogs is Thursday night in Kincardine at 8:30pm.
