The Mount Forest Patriots are still skating in the PJHL playoffs after a 3-1 win over Alliston in Game 4 of their Schmalz Cup Quarter-Final series.
It was touch and go early for the Patriots after Alliston opened up the scoring just 2:57 into the first period. Hornet captain Devon Gillham was left alone in front of the net and got two chances, scoring on his own rebound.
And after the teams continued to exchange chances, Michael Stefanelli was able to tie the game at 13:45 when he tossed a change up towards the net that fooled Alliston goalie Matthew Nixon and beat him low.
Mount Forest was able to end a power play drought in the third period when Ostop Mostowy scored what would be the game winner. It also snapped an 0-for-10 power play in the last two games up to that point.
The Patriots sealed the win when Mitch Betts fired the puck off the boards from deep in his own end and it trickled into the empty net.
Alliston out shot Mount Forest 36-33 as Mathieu Oullette again kept his team in it stopping 35 shots.
Game 5 is in Alliston Friday night at 7:30pm.
