Attack Hire Todd Gill As New Head Coach

The Owen Sound Attack have announced they have a new head coach today.

Former NHL player Todd Gill will be the new bench boss for the Attack, replacing the outgoing Ryan McGill, who joined the NHL's Vegas Golden Knights as an assistant coach. Gill, 51, who played over 1,000 NHL games for Toronto, San Jose, St. Louis, Detroit, Phoenix, Colorado, and Chicago, has spent the last few seasons as the assistant coach of the AHL's Stockton Heat, joining their staff in 2014-15. That was following a 3-year stint as head coach of the OHL's Kingston Frontenacs, where he finished with a record of 85-99-9-11.

Gill also has vast experience at the international level, winning bronze at the U-18 April tournament in 2012 as an assistant coach with Canada, before winning gold as head coach at the U-18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournament in August of 2012.

"We're thrilled to be able to bring a coach of Todd's calibre into the organization," said General Manager Dale DeGray.

The Attack also announced an extension for assistant coach Alan Letang, who will remain on the coaching staff with Gill, and is now signed through the 2018-19 season.

Gill is a native of Brockville, Ontario.
