Some Midwestern Ontario track and field athletes have racked up some silverware recently.
Ryan Jacklin of Wingham earned a silver medal in shot put at the Athletics Ontario Championships in Brampton. Emily Branderhorst of Fullarton took home bronze in Women's High Jump at the Canada Summer Games last week in Winnipeg, jumping 171cm to earn the medal. Emily and Ryan competed for the Saugeen Track and Field Club.
Another big winner was Samantha Fischer of Hanover, who also competes for Saugeen Track and Field. Samantha won bronze in hammer throw in the midget girls division at the Athletics Ontario BMJ Championships in Brampton. The Saugeen Track and Field Club won the midget and bantam divisions, beating 50 other clubs around the province.
