Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race Nearly Sold Out

An annual race event in Midwestern Ontario is nearly full for this year's run.

The Subaru Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race is an outdoor race event which spans nearly 100km in the long course, and race administrator Leigh Grigg says the event benefits a local organization.

"The whole event benefits the Peninsula Adventure Sports Association, which is a non-profit that keeps all the proceeds local, and supports outdoor sports events and infrastructure within the Bruce Peninsula. It's our signature event and it's always the second weekend of every August and this year it's August 11th."

Grigg says it's a unique race set up with a few different variations to compete in, the main one being a paddle-bike-run. "We've got lots of different race courses for people. But it's all in one day, it's all on a marked course and it's kind of like a triathalon where you gotta be the first across the finish line to win the prizes, but it's a real test of endurance.   The difference between ours and triathalon is there's paddling in place of the swimming."

Leigh says the event only has some spots left for the paddle-bike-paddle event, but there is a need for volunteers for the August 11th race, which ends in Wiarton.
