The Wingham Ironmen have made a significant roster addition.
General Manager Chum McAskill confirmed yesterday that the team have acquired forward Dawson Sellick from the Tignish Aces. McAskill says Sellick can add a lot to an already talented roster.
"Dawson is going to be a huge asset this year for us. He's going to add some firepower up front with Logan Toltan, Jamie Huber and many others. We can hardly wait."
Sellick, a PEI native, is set to head to Ontario this Saturday to get familiar with the area and start practicing with the team leading up to the pre-season. He put up 33 goals and 53 points in 26 games last season for Tignish in the PEI Jr. C league, and 10 points in 10 playoff games. He could potentially suit up for Wingham's pre-season game Sunday. McAskill says that Ironmen forward Logan Toltan played with Sellick on the Team Canada fast pitch team this summer, and Logan's father wanted to get Sellick to the Ironmen as soon as possible after the event.
"Again, I talked with Paul Toltan, Logan's dad, and Paul spent a lot of time with Dawson, as you know Logan was on that Team Canada team this year and Dawson was a captain with that group, so Paul says he has a lot of leadership ability. We can hardly wait until he gets to Ontario and puts on that Ironmen uniform for us."
